Powerhouse Museum Visit: Part I

We went to a couple of interesting exhibitions at the Powerhouse Museum today. The Powerhouse, is one of the venues in the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, or MAAS, which is in Sydney, Australia.
It is the Christmas holidays in Australia and summer, so a museum is the perfect visit during the heat of the day. It was myself, two of my kiddies and a few of their friends.

It Was Brilliant! We didn’t realize that the Starwars Identities Exhibition was on, so we paid a bit extra to go and have a wonder around there also. My children are older (16 and 14, and one of their friends was 17), so while they explored, I got to wander around by myself having a look, plus I got to quietly sit in the cafe and have a coffee for a bit.

My favourite exhibition besides Starwars, was the Akita Isogawa Exhitition. Which runs till the 30 June 2019. With his Asian/Australian fusion fashion and his 25 year career, he is one of Australia’s most prominent and celebrated designers.

The videos running in the exhibition told the story of his career. And the range of events such as talks, tours and studio sessions is perfect. Of course because I didn’t even know the exhibition was on, I missed out on booking a slot at the floor talk in June, with Akira Isogawa and the MAAS curator Roger Leong. But hey I can see the clothes and maybe do a studio session on beading.

I didn’t take any notes and only a few photos, but I will be visiting again. But here are the photos I did take. So Enjoy.
